Quite astounding that 1) Friedman would write such a pro-Obama piece; and 2) that the NYT would print it without heavy editing to sanitize the piece and inject anti-Palestinian hasbara throughout. Kudos to Friedman for such a clear-eyed piece, a refreshing counterpoint to Fred Hiatt’s chest-thumping Israel-first editorials in Washington Post.

I’m an Australian/Vietnamese guy who met my girlfriend while traveling Europe a couple of months ago. She is French and caucasian. I noticed that it is more common to see white girls and asian guys in France than it is in Australia. In France people don’t really pay us any attention but in Melbourne they sometime stare… Which is fine too

I found this recipe via Pinterest and have made them twice already! They are great as-is, but for the commenters that thought they needed a little something extra, I suggest the following changes: Use a whole can of pumkpin (1.5 cups), decrease butter to a half-cup (one stick), and add 1/4 tsp. allspice to the dough with the other spices. We use toased walnuts or almonds, because those pine nuts are pricey. And I often throw some spiniach in to stretch it a bit and because my daughter won’t each spiniach, but will eat pesto with a spoon. And Marcella Hazan taught me to stir the grated cheese in after everything is done–either in your food processor or (if you don’t have kids) your morter and pestle. Somehow this makes it taste better.
