A child took on the status of the mother. If the mother was free, the child was. If the mother was a slave, so was the child. Since Obama's mother was caucasian, he would have been free as a child.Which doesn't mean some of the birthers don't have wet dreams of seeing Obama in slave chains, as his "proper place"…..
